Surveillance Camera at Night?

I bought a surveillance camera that is supposed to be with night vision
At night all i see is a bunch of white spots. Does anyone know how to let it work in the night.
I tried to call the customer service number but it is always busy and closes at 5 p.m

By nightvision, I would assume it can see near infrared. You might need an infrared light though. Does it have any lights/illuminators built in? You might have to buy a separate infrared light. What's the model number?
