What rifle caliber is the ballisticly calibrated 'Varmint Hunters Reticle' in the Leupold 6.5-20x56 based on?
I have just purchased a Remington Model 700 XCR in .270, along with a Luepold 6.5-20x56 long Range Target scope, and it has a ballisticly calibrated 'Varmint Hunters Reticle', which if sighted in at 200m indicates holdover points to compensate for bullet drop at 300m, 400m and 500m, and also reference points on where to aim for a 10mph or 20mph wind. I just want to know what rifle caliber they have based the ballistcs on when deciding the hold over points? Will the .270 with 110gr or 130gr bullets hit well on target at 400m if I held over at the 400m reference point? It would be much appreciated if you could help me. Thanks

Varmint Hunter Reticle - Five fine aiming points let you dial in your load at close range, 200, 300, 400 and 500 yards (for cartridges similar to the .22-250), and there are references for 10-mph and 20-mph wind deflection. Prairie dogs can be ranged by bracketing them between the horizontal bar at the top of the picket and the 500-yard aiming point.
