what are the pros and cons of buying a saiga .223?
well i am going to buy a saiga 223, and i want to know if it is a good idea. im wondering if there reliable, will it break easily , how accurate is it, what sights does it have, does it easily overheat, can i attach a scope, where can i find saiga cleaning kit, and is saiga guns good in general
Saiga rifles are excellent rifles. It is actually a sporterized version of the AK series of rifles so it shares all of the reliablity aspects with them. They are durable enough to last through your childrens lifetime with proper care. They are built in the same plant as the Russian Military's AK rifles. Accuracy wise they are pretty good, they wont be able to run with a match grade AR-15 but most people are capable of reaching 1.5" groups at 100yds with the right ammo. It has the same sights as an AK but you can easily attach a scope if you so choose. The scope mount will be a wierd looking object mounted to the left side of the receiver. Your scope mounts will attach to that. It does get hot and you can burn yourself if you touch the gas cylinder or barrel after extended firing sessions but that same caution goes with most other semi-auto rifles aswell. Any standard Cleaning kit will work fine for you. You can also buy the parts to convert the rifle from a standard stock to a pistol grip stock like regular AK rifles. I myself own the 7.62x39 version and it runs like a champ.
