whats the difference between a rimfire and a centrefire rifle?
I'm going out to buy a rifle for the first time. Almost no background in firearms, so tell me any little detail to help.

centerfire like the name says when firing pin strikes round the primer is in the center of the round
rimfire also like the name says strikes around the outside edge of the round
depending on what gun your wanting it may or may not be available in one or the other.most common rimfires would be your 22 and such of that nature
