Is it normal to grow only one inch in a year?
When I was ten years old, i grew three inches in one year, however the following year i only grew one inch. I'm sixteen now and i'm 5' 11, but i'm worried that i could have lost potential height when i only grew one inch when i was 11. Does anybody know if growth patterns like this are normal?
This is completely normal. You didn't lose any potential height, and if you are only sixteen you may even gain a little more. Periods of slow growth tend to alternate with growth spurts. So stop worrying. You are already plenty tall, and unless you suffered from severe malnutrition or sickness when you were eleven that prevented you from growing a little faster, you weren't missing out on anything. In fact, at age eleven and twelve, it's common for a lot of girls to start getting taller than some of the boys, because girls tend to hit their adolescent growth spurt a year or two before boys. You probably noticed a big growth spurt somewhere between age twelve and fourteen. Completely normal.
