I am going to buy a men's golden star sapphire ring and it has no stamp mark, and if it needs to have a stamp

HI there! My question is about men golden rings. Do golden rings have to have a stamp weight on the inside of the ring? Because I'm going to be buying a star Sapphire mens ring and its not new, its been worn before. The owner does not know how theres not a stamp. He said it might have been erased when it was re-sized or something like that. But the ? is again if gold rings have to have a stamp mark of the weight?

Not all rings are stamp marked with a 10K and 14 K ect mark. It is quite possible that it was removed during sizing... when you go down in size, gold is literally removed. When going up, gold is heated and added, either way it is likely that IF it were there it is gone now. To tell by eye if the ring is pure gold look on the inside of the band. If it has a light portion, almost as though a speck of it is turning white. It is gold plated.

To check the K of the ring take it to a jeweler, most can eye it, even hold it in their hand and tell you right away the K of the ring along with the penney weight and quality of the ring overall...

I suggest to stay away from pawn shops if possible...
