a few military questions?
1. - difference between army and marines (i heard that the marines are like the infantry of the navy, and they get in to obtain a foothold on the foregin land, and then the army comes in, but if thats true, why are marines still in iraq?do they keep pushing and trying to take land? cause thats not why there there (or is it), so can any1 make any big differences).
2. How do they get accessiors to their weapons? For example, an aimpoint, a leather grip, an ACOG scope etc. Do they have to request it at the armory? Do they must have special training?
3. The standard gun for most soldiers is the m16ar. But some have m4. Im positive that you have to be a high rank or officer (sergeant + ) but can u get it as a private/corporal? Do u need training and request it at the armory? Or it is only for officers.
4. Pistols. its basically the same question as above cept instead of an m4 its a pistol. Officers? Training? request it?
1-The USMC specializes in amphibious assaults. The Army can do this too and infact has done our countries largest amphibious assault. Marines are supposed to be basic shock troops. The Army has elite shock troops. Marines are incapable of holding an area for a long time, whereas the Army can.
2- Whoever is incharge of them(team leader/squad leader) will get them accessories if they want/need them. I personally only have bipods and an acog on my m4. My friend who's the same rank as pas13. You don't need special training for optics.
3/4- The standard WEAPON(not a gun) for most service members is the M16... AR's are civilian weapons. Every non POG in my unit has an M4(some of the pogs have them too). Like I said, I'm a private and use an M4. In the Marine Corps they have less M4's so officers get it first and if you're lucky as a pvt/lcpl you'll also get one. The one's i've seen while deployed all had m16's, but i've seen pics on AKO of Marine lcpls with M4's.
5-Platoon Sgts(e-7) and up will have both m4's and pistols. Officers will also have pistols. As for lower ranked people, it depends on your job. I don't have a pistol but theres this new pog that came to our fob he's only a rank above me, and he has a pistol. Nobody in my platoon other than our PSG and PL have pistols. If you aren't "new" you can sign out shotguns/m14's as a Spc.
